Easter all over the world
In a few days we will celebrate the Easter all over the world.
There are different traditions in all the countries in which Easter is celebrated.
In England there are many traditions. For example, on the Holy Thursday the poors receive money in the Westminster Abbey, while on Holy Friday people usually eat some particular sweets made up by little brioches with cinnamon and raisin, as symbol of protection against fire and also they make some eggs rolling down the strees until they broke themselves. In Germany the little bunny is the typical symbol of Easter and it decorates the windows together with coloured eggs. The eggs are also hidden in the gardens in order to be found by children. In the North of Germany people organize huge fires of Easter, which are really spectacular. These fires are lighted naturally and the ashes are spread in the fileds to wish a good harvest and they are a symbol of the passage from winter to spring. In Denmark the tradition is characterized by colouring everything yellow, from candles to tablecloth, while the houses are decorated with flowering branches and painted eggs. In Russia people go to the graveyard on the Easter’s morning in order to visit the tomb of a relative and they have lunch there. Moreover, the eggs are coloured red as symbol of Christian sacrifice. In the East-European countries like Poland and Hungary, young people squirt the girls with spring water according to an old legend of fertility. Finally in Italy people celebrate the Easter and the Easter Monday and on this last one day they usually organize trips and picnics with friends.
